Mona Dorothea (Marie Dorothy) Schuetze was the first child to be born to Gottlieb Andreas and Maria Dorothea Schuetze nee Roediger after the family arrived in Australia. She was born 26 November 1849 while the family was living at Hackney Bridge in Adelaide, South Australia.

Marie married William Robert Porter, a riverboat Captain - at Echuca, Victoria on 5 June 1873.

They had 8 children - Herbert William, Florence Dorothy, Minnie Dora, Vallie Elizabeth, Murray, Horace Robert, Lilly Mary and Winfred Rex.

Capt. William Robert Porter died in 1921 while his widow Marie died some years later on 24 September 1936 in Bendigo, Victoria.
