If the above Sarah KNIGHT was ‘our’ Sarah, then the following relates to her.
It definitely relates to Sarah BRAME.
Sarah was transported to VDL for stealing 2 brooches/2 gowns & 3 brooches ?
She was m. to Wlm Brame who was supposed to follow her to Van Diemans Land as a free
passenger,
but so far no record of him has been found.
She brought two dtrs. with her - Sarah aged 8, Rebecca aged 7.
(Convict Information states 2 children - 9 and 10 years old)
She rec'd a Conditional Pardon - No. 3566 - on 25 November 1841 and her Free Certificate
on 9 May 1853.
Sarah was actually found guilty of stealing quite a lot of things - see
extract from trial at Old Bailey.
Capital offence, but given 2 x 7 yrs and transported instead of hanging.
